Craftguide is an innovative digital platform designed to enhance manual work through expert-led tutorials and resources. Catering to a diverse audience of trainees, professionals, and industry leaders, Craftguide empowers users to engage in craft activities seamlessly via their smartphones. The platform’s unique selling proposition lies in its interactive step-by-step player, which not only guides users through complex tasks but also fosters a sense of confidence and independence.
The main objective of this project was to undertake a comprehensive redesign of the existing mobile application, focusing on creating a platform that seamlessly blends intuitiveness and professionalism with an engaging and entertaining user experience.
Working closely with Carolin Gläser, we developed a fully functional Figma prototype accompanied by a robust design system. This approach ensured that Craftguide developers could implement our designs effortlessly, paving the way for an innovative, user-friendly application.
UX Concept
As interface designers, we recognize the importance of building on proven foundations. To facilitate user onboarding, we adopted the logical structure and design language of market leaders in the content and entertainment sectors. This strategic approach allowed us to integrate innovative concepts within the step-by-step player, identified as Craftguide's unique selling proposition.
Using insights from our research, we crafted initial wireframe prototypes that were rigorously tested with both the Craftguide team and a select group of experienced craftsmen familiar with the application. This iterative process ensured our designs were user-centered and practical. Additionally we decided to use distinct shapes to help the users understand and recognize each content type just by a glance.
Vision
Our vision centered on crafting an exceptional user experience, rigorously refined through real-world user testing to ensure practicality and engagement. We aimed for an interface that feels fresh, vibrant, and disruptive, yet remains professional and accessible to a broad user base. Additionally, we focused on designing with developers in mind, structuring the interface as a robust foundation that enables an efficient handoff and seamless implementation for ongoing development.
